Overview
Your Story Counseling was just launching their practice so we needed to build their brand strategy and use it to direct their logo and website designs. Their website needed to have a good foundation so if they wanted to expand in the future, it would be easy to add new pages and sections.
Goals at a Glance
-
Brand strategy geared towards their ideal client and showcased their values and unique experience
-
A logo that played off of the name of the practice without looking like a logo to a bookstore
-
A modern website that is easy-to-update so they can easily add new information as the practice grows

Brand Identity
This logo concept uses two fonts balance between being authoritative/trustworthy and modern/approachable.
Conversation bubble icons replace the O’s in the logo to represent the storytelling aspect of Your Story’s therapy approach. The two lines inside each speech bubble icon represents Your Story’s commitment to equality and a safe environment for all clients.
Website Design
When we started our project together, one of their answers in their Discovery Questionnaire included the sentence: “Your Story Counseling provides a safe and supported space for you to share your story, understand your story and change your story.” It was such a succinct and memorable way to summarize what Your Story Counseling does, that I turned it into a rotating headline on the homepage.
We wanted the feel of the website to attract caretakers and creatives and draw them into a welcoming environment. We took the feel from sitcoms such as “Parenthood” and “This is Us”, to create a space that was warm with a personable tone.
Personal touches included writing book recommendations in the format of “Staff Pick” notecards that are usually displayed in bookstores. We also displayed images on the About page like they were polaroid pictures.
