Web Design Project Questions

Which platform will my site be built on?

All of our websites are developed on the WordPress platform. By using WordPress, we can customize your website specifically to your brand and functionality needs. It’s also great for SEO configurations. 

Over 60% of all websites using a content management system (like Wix, SquareSpace, or GoDaddy) are powered by WordPress. That means that your website will have the support it needs to run smoothly for years to come. 

Every website we create is designed with you in mind — including what happens after launch. Since everyone has a different comfort level with website maintenance, we offer two options: training and tutorials or a Website Care Plan.

If you’d like to manage your site yourself, we’ll provide a live training session to show you how to make updates, plus a custom dashboard with quick links and step-by-step tutorials for easy reference. Prefer to have us handle everything? Our Website Care Plans cover security, maintenance, and updates, with monthly support time included. And of course, you can always reach out by email anytime you need help.

Absolutely. Every website we build is mobile-friendly and SEO-ready from the start. Your site will be fully responsive, meaning it automatically adjusts to look great on any screen size — from phones to desktops. We also design with SEO in mind: the site’s structure is strategically organized to guide visitors deeper into your content and boost engagement. Each page includes optimized headings (H1, H2), meta descriptions, and titles. And if you choose our professional copywriting service, we’ll craft your content with targeted keywords to strengthen your site’s search performance even more.

All third-party services like hosting and domain name are purchased separately. This ensures everything stays under your ownership and control if you ever decide to switch providers.

While hosting and domains aren’t included in your website package, we’re happy to recommend trusted companies that fit your needs and help with the setup process. You can also check out the Resources page for some of our favorite hosting and domain providers.

Every project is unique, because every practice and business has different goals and needs. Most custom web design projects start at $2,800, but you’ll receive a personalized proposal based on the scope of your project and the features you’re looking for. My goal is to create a website that fits both your vision and your budget.

Yes! We recognize that a custom web design project is a big investment. We split up our payments into 4 equal invoices. The first payment is due after your approve your invoice as a deposit to lock in your project start date. 

Every project is different. On average it takes around 2 months from your first Brand Workshop to launch. Most of it is dependent on your availability to schedule check-ins and collaborate or create on copy.  

Branding/logo design and copywriting are optional add-ons to every custom web design project. 

Every web design project includes copy editing from our professional copywriter. She will review your submitted copy and make grammar and clarity changes. If you’d rather hand off copy writing completely to our copywriter, we can include that as an add-on to your proposal. The cost is dependent on how many pages your website will be.  

Copyright & ownership will transfer to you once full payment has completed.  You will receive a Wrap Up Guide following our after-launch meeting which will include all logins and passwords needed to operate your website.

We’re a phone call, email, or text away! We welcome any questions you may have once your website has launched. We also offer Website Care Plans to help you secure, maintain, and monitor your website. Most care plans also include an hour of website content updates.

Website Care Plan Questions

What is a Website Care Plan and why do I need one?

A Website Care Plan is an ongoing service that keeps your website secure, updated, and running smoothly long after launch. It covers all the behind-the-scenes tasks like software updates, security monitoring, backups, and performance checks — so you can focus on your business without worrying about the technical details.

A care plan ensures your website stays fast, safe, and reliable for your visitors. It also gives you peace of mind knowing that any issues or updates are handled quickly and professionally. Depending on the plan you chose, you’ll receive a monthly allotment of time for updates and security and/or analytics reports. 

If you ever need more extensive updates, you’ll benefit from a reduced hourly rate as part of your plan — plus, you’ll always have a trusted point of contact who knows your site inside and out.

Our Website Care Plans cover everything you need to keep your site secure, updated, and running smoothly, including:

  • Security & monitoring: malware removal, uptime checks, and firewall protection

  • Updates: WordPress core, plugins, and themes

  • Backups: cloud-based site backups for peace of mind

  • Content updates: monthly hours included for changes or edits

  • Monthly reports: clear updates on work completed and site performance

  • Priority access: faster response times and strategic consultations

These services ensure your website stays safe, functional, and optimized — so you can focus on your practice, not technical upkeep.

Not at all! I understand that everyone has different needs and priorities. Every custom web design project includes multiple post‑launch options. You can choose a Website Care Plan so you don’t have to worry about maintenance, or opt for training and tutorials so you feel confident managing your site yourself.

Nope! All website care plans have an option to be billed monthly or annually. In the unlikely event that you want to pull your site from the plan, you have the complete freedom to do so. We will finish out the month/year and then your plan will not renew.

If I built your website, there is no set up fee as long as it’s within a 90 day period!

If, after 90 days, you’d like to join one of the plans at any level, there is a $99 set up fee in order to update all tools, clean up the database, install security tools, and backup the site.

If I did not build your website, there is a $250 setup fee. The upfront work to update the site, learn the tools and get it ready to be properly maintained is more intensive.

In the extremely unlikely event that a website is breached or hacked in any way while on our plan, we take full responsibility and will rectify the situation immediately. You will not need to do a thing.

If you’d like to join our plan and have us take care of getting the hack cleaned, we have a $499 site cleaning & set up fee. Depending on the type of hack/breach and how long the site has been compromised, SEO rankings and blacklisting issues may take weeks or even months to resolve.

Important note: I do not fix website hacks unless the site will subsequently be added to a care plan.

Negative on this one, ghost rider. The retainer of hourly updates is covered for that month but does not rollover or add up for later use.

Monthly time for updates covers any additions or add-ons to your website. Ex: changing hours, company information, staff or team members, adding new photos, updating services pages, etc.

I always do my best to complete your updates within your monthly included time to help you avoid extra costs. If your request requires more time than what’s included, you’ll be billed at a reduced hourly rate — one of the perks of being on a Website Care Plan! After each update is completed, you’ll receive an email confirming the work done and how much time it took, so you always know exactly how much time remains for the month.

C3 Website Review & Roadmap Questions

How do I know if my website needs an audit?

If your website isn’t attracting or converting visitors as you’d like, it might be time for a website audit. The C3 Website Review & Roadmap is designed for business owners who:

  • Feel their DIY website isn’t performing well

  • Have seen a decline in traffic

  • Want to improve their site’s effectiveness without a full redesign

This audit provides a clear, actionable roadmap to enhance your online presence. 

There are three parts of your online presence that we analyze during your C3 Website Review: 

  • Communication: Is your brand message clear and compelling?

  • Content: Is your website’s content engaging and easy to navigate?

  • Compliance: Is your site optimized for SEO, accessible to all users, and legally compliant?

Once we review each section together during your C3 Website Review call, you’ll receive the checklist we used for the review and a clear Roadmap on next steps to take to take your online presence to the next level. 

Definitely! At the end of the C3 Website Review & Roadmap, you’ll get three things to support your marketing efforts going forward: 

  • Review Checklist: The same checklist we review during our call that includes notes to explain why certain items are checked “yes” or “no”. 
  • Roadmap: List of 5 actionable steps you can take to improve your website along with tutorials on how to complete each one. 
  • 7 Days of Support: After receiving your Roadmap, you have 7 days of support to ask any clarifying questions you may have after trying to implement the Roadmap items.  

If you’d rather outsource your Roadmap items to Tracy Mak Studio, we can definitely talk about that during your C3 Review Call. I can provide you with an estimate of how long it would take to implement the changes outlined in your Roadmap. 

Absolutely! The C3 Website Review & Roadmap is a great way to decide whether a full redesign makes sense right now or if your current site just needs some strategic updates. It’s the perfect “in-between” step: you’ll get clear, actionable recommendations to strengthen your online presence without committing to a complete overhaul.

Plus, if you choose to move forward with a redesign within six months, the investment you made in your C3 Review & Roadmap will be applied toward your website redesign project. That way, nothing goes to waste — you’re simply building on the work you’ve already started.

Yes! We cover SEO and site performance extensively in the “Compliance” section of our Review. In that section, we also look at site speed, accessibility, and HIPAA compliance. 

The C3 Website Review & Roadmap is currently $175. You can reserve your Review call and pay your deposit directly on the C3 Website Review & Roadmap page.
